Yeah last week I was suddenly having to spray the coops down and had to dip a few in the baby pool. They didn't know what hit them, the young pullets were having a real awful time with the heat and watermelon is SO expensive right now.

Greetings from Balingup, WA. I keep a few breeds, easter eggers, naked necks and silkies. They're a real joy. Can't imagine how hot it's going to get in Perth soon, the weather has been so whacky this year!

what is wrong with my hen

That looks like scaly leg mites. Rub you hen's feet with vasaline or a cooking oil and it will smother them and treat the skin at the same time. If you do this at night you will have a less stressful time, as they are so much more docile then. Do this once a week until symptoms subside.

They are all looking beautiful, I'd be happy to say I owned even one of these fantastic little birds. You must be one proud chicken momma :)

    Araucana thread anyone?

Does it count if it's a cross? The girly (I hope) is a Silkie/Araucana/Barred Naked Neck. Possibly the cutest thing to ever come out of an egg <3

Does anyone on here know when barred rock hens start laying?

I have some huge barred rock naked necks and I think they started laying at about 26 or 28 weeks old. Their combs and wattles became a much brighter color red and their wattles became huge. Sometimes they sneak away and hide a nest on you but if you're a keen chicken watcher you'll be able to...

Silver laced wyandotte, cockeral or pullet?

Yeah I'm not sure how old they are, I bought them from an auction and the lady just wanted to get rid of them and wasn't sure :/

Silver laced wyandotte, cockeral or pullet?

Well that is just a **** shame. At least they're handsome boys, someone is bound to be interested in them :)

    Showgirls

If all the chicks you hatched out are showgirls then I'd say it's 50% chance for them to pass on that naked gene, yeah.

Silver laced wyandotte, cockeral or pullet?

I'm pretty sure they're little boys, my Star and Spangled, but as I'm a greenhorn novice I thought it would be smart to ask before I post them up for sale. I got the two of them for $5 at a poultry auction 'unsexed' so I won't be shocked if they're little boys. They're just so sweet though, they...

**HELP** Depue illinois Police came today said I have one week to get rid of chickens!

That is awesome, I'm totally proud of you! I too feel like chickens have helped with my minor depression, they wake me up every morning and the first thing I do is go outside and do chicken chores and talk to my rooster, lol. You are one amazing person, I'm sure your family is so proud of you...
