    Paralyzed Silki

We have a beautiful buff silki rooster that was healthy as far as we could tell, but two days ago i noticed he didn't come out of the coop in the morning. When i checked on him, it's almost like his legs are useless! He tries to get up, but they don't have the strength to support his weight...

    Skinny Silkies

I think they are eating when they are isolated, but just what they can scratch up when ranging with the flock. We wormed them almost 6 months ago, and will be retreating at the beginning of next month.

    Skinny Silkies

We have a small urban farm with about 40 silkies. All of them seem to be doing well with the exception of 2 hens and a rooster. They are all three young (about 6 months) and are getting skinnier by the day. When i pick them up and feel their gullets, it's like they haven't eaten anything all...

    water in-water out

We have a silki hen who is very weak to the point of having difficulty standing/walking. We have wormed her with Wazine and followed up with liquid goat wormer a few weeks ago. We have isolated her for her protection, as well as the rest of the flock. Recently, she has been drinking an...

    Is this a tumor?

We have an "egger" that recently has begun to collect poop on her bottom end! We decided to wash her up and were horrified to find a large, "tumor-like" growth underneath the mess. (see photo's) We have no idea what's going on, and other than this, she shows no signs of sickness or...

    liquid poop!

Thanks Kathy. You are correct about our dosing. We have been unable to find a vet in our area that has any expertise/desire to treat chickens, so we are somewhat on our own and depend on the good advice we get here. We have almost 50 hens, and these few are the only ones with this issue. I...

    liquid poop!

Will do. We have several "dusting areas" with DE in them, and sprinkle it into the nesting boxes every time we clean them out, but that might not be doing the trick. If not, what's the best way to treat for mites?

    liquid poop!

we did repeat the wormer and have used Rooster Booster in the past, but we have a very difficult time finding it. Our local Tractor Supply doesn't carry it! We will give the probiotics a try. thanks

    liquid poop!

I have noticed recently that a couple of our hens have liquid poop...and by that, I mean, almost like water liquid poop! I've kept an eye on them and there are no other symptoms that I can determine. They are eating well, have plenty of energy, still laying eggs, not losing weight, etc. We...

What's that growth on your face?

I started another thread in the "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures" section - thank you for that advice. It seems fairly soft to the touch and she did not show any discomfort when we did so. Not sure about moveable...i will check that when i get home tonight.

    What's this?

This is a 3 year old "easter egger" who seems to be healthy, but we noticed this growth on the left side of her head today. It is soft to the touch, and didn't seem to cause her any discomfort when we touched it. Any ideas of what it might be, and how to treat it?
