I got mine started from chicks I got at tractor supply. They are Isa browns. Got 8 thinking some would die, but all made it. I get 8 eggs a day like clockwork. The coop is only 4x4 with a big run, and they get to free range every day. Fun to watch em chase bugs and what not.
I was told that...
I have 8 isa browns, one was sneezing for a week or so, now another is. No snot in their vents, they all eat and drink with no problem, and run around like normal. They have maple shavings for bedding since day one. And they go outside all day in the run.
Should I be worried or just normal...
Thanks for the welcome. They were out in the run for first time yesterday. Funny to watch them go down the ramp to the grass then turn and run up the ramp. Good entertainment for the dogs too
Hi, I'm from PA. We got 8 Isa brown chicks from tsc Easter weekend. Been lurking here since. Finished our co-op today, and so far all is well. Can't wait for the first eggs to come. Mean time they are fun to watch
I have hardware cloth 1/2*1/2 buried 4 inch down, then bent out 12 inch. But for coons there is an easy fix. Works in our corn patch too. We put our a junk radio, tune it to a talk news station, and let it play at night. Doesn't have to be loud, the coons hear it and stay away.
But if all else...
