He's been moved to an old coop a few hundred metres from the main coops for a few reasons. The main reason was that we hatched chicks and he wasn't very impressed. He was ok to start but as they got older he started to get aggressive. He attacked anything that moved including me and my kids...
Thanks for your reply. He's in isolation at the moment and has been for 4 weeks so I don't think it would be damage from pecking or fighting. We're in country NSW. We have had a few good frosts over the past 2 weeks which is why I thought maybe frostbite!
I was wondering about fowl pox but...
That looks terrible! We recently had an issue with an aggressive hen (we introduced 3 pullets and 7 chicks and she was not impressed). After seeing her attack a few times I jumped on here and did some searching and reading and I'm not sure whose post it was but they had suggested isolation. We...
We have 4 young roosters running together at the moment (they all hatched together early Feb. we thought they'd be a problem. But they seem to have worked it out! A couple of weeks ago two moved themselves in with the older hens and the other two stayed with the younger hens. They all free range...

Our chick took about 24 hours from first pip to unzip. We left it alone until it dried (just under...
Thanks for your reply. I can't be here in the morning to keep an eye on them unfortunately. So I just can't bring myself to put the poor bugger out there I think I need to find her some friends. (Which luckily for me is a legitimate reason to get some more chickens LOL)
Hi Al I'm new to this sight I jumped the gun and posted a question before introducing myself (sorry). I've been dabbling in chickens for about 12 months. I've got 5 ISA Brown hens, 1 French Wheaton Marian's Rooster, 1 ISA/Marans Pullet and 1 ISA/Marans Cockerel. I've just hatched an unexpected...
Advice wanted! When we came back from holidays we found two Broodies sitting a clutch of eggs. (These eggs are ISA Brown Hens crossed with a French Wheaton Marans Rooster). After a couple of weeks the eggs started hatching. Once the first three hatched and began leaving the nest one of the hens...
