Hatched out 10 bresse chicks in my janoel24 incubator over the weekend.. everything went well other than the humidity getting a little high over night day 21.. still had a few eggs hatching.. one baby chick hatched out kind of slow but eventually made it out fine, seemed to be normal. I checked...
I appreciate all the advice. Anyone have anything about my incubating problems? Should I dry incubate until lockdown? And then add some cloth to the reservoir to hold moisture better, help wick it slowly? I've read this is a common practice sorta like having a sponge. The relative humidity in my...
Get more practice with my incubator, which was the plan from the go. I've been doing research until my head hurts on incubating eggs.. I have incubated eggs successfully but when I get to lockdown things go down hill..after researching I believe 2 things are happening.. I've noticed chicks will...
Honestly, I've only used my incubator a few times.. I've hatched out chicks but the humidity levels get me every time at the end.. I planned to put paper towel or cloth in the reservoir at lockdown to help with wicking moisture and keeping humidity high..I really trust this broody hen more than...
Ok, I ordered 24 fertile eggs to hatch in my incubator. 2 days after I ordered eggs I found one of my young aurcana hens is broody for the first time.. full blown broody. Haven't seen her off the nest in 2 1/2 days.. she seems very into it and in a trance.. the eggs will be here after she has...
Ok. Well unfortunately the weather has cancelled out working today, so I have all day to work on the big pen I'm going to build.I've read that keeping multiple males in the same cage. Could cause fighting. I assumed since there were 5 females to each male they would be ok. I don't see any signs...
When I build the new pen, it will be about 70yds away from the chickens. I'm new to quail. I've had these for 2wks. They were laying when I brought them home. The first few days they layed great but it slowly dropped off. When I put them in this pen they stopped laying completely. These birds...
This is my corurnix set. The cage on the side houses 4 males. The big cage is 5'x3', has a dust bath, box for hiding/nesting, plenty of good food and water. Oyster shell free choice. The main cage houses 15 females and 3 males. I'm soon going to build an 8'x2' 3 tier pen for them.
You are correct, specific gravity of ammonia is .826.. SG of air is 1. I cut in gable vents which will stay open all the time. So now there's plenty fresh air intake and ventilation high and low. Thanks y'all, Trent.
Yeah there are no gables yet, I was just saying I will add the gables, and with the soffetts and Windows that should be good. Soffetts are intended to bring in fresh air actually, not necessarily for venting. Soffetts bring in air and with the gable vents, whirly birds or ridge vents it creates...
That front of the coop is facing north and back is facing south. I actually have gable vents and some other venting material. Soffetts all around, Windows on the sides that are permanent openings now and gable vents. If that's not enough by God then I give up. Thanks for the input. The coop has...
