I have 1 last egg in my bator that I thought could be dead in shell. After I got home from the Easter festivities, I candled it to be sure (I was going to clean my bator in preparation for the next hatch!) & found that it had internally pipped & was chirping! Hoping it decides to hatch soon...
I’m going to give it until morning to externally pip & then make a safety hole & see how things progress. I imagine I probably affected the temp/humidity when I was worried & checking the 2 that pipped the wrong end & ended up needing assistance, so I’m wondering if I delayed thing for the...
Idk if it’s been struggling at all. It hadn’t pipped yet, so i thought it was dead in shell. Before cleaning the bator & pitching the egg, I candled it & found that it had internally pipped. So, as far as I know...it just internally pipped today. :idunno
The 2 that had externally pipped on the...
The one in the back didn’t make it & I made a gut feeling decision to help the one in the front. I’m so glad I did-I’m not sure it would have been able to get out in the position it was in. So far so good. It’s about 24hrs old, eating & drinking & running around with its other hatch mates.
Thank you! Today is day 21, I honestly thought it died in shell & was getting ready to pull it, sanitize my bator & start a new hatch when I checked & realized it had internally pipped & was chirping! Idk if I just leave it alone to do its thing or if I should help since it’s day 21.
My first Serama hatch!!
I set 8 eggs:
1-not fertilized
1-died in early development
3-hatched on their own on day 20
2-pipped the wrong side; after 33 hours assisted (one didn’t make it)
Last egg-I thought might be dead in shell & I checked it before pulling it & noticed an internal pip &...
It’s been well over 30 hours since my chicks have pipped. 3 hatched, 2 did not. The 2 that did not pipped on the wrong side of the egg. I started to assist. I peeled away part of the shell & some of the membrane, upped the humidity & put them back in. When I checked on them, this is what I...
I have 7 birds in my coop & I keep finding my BA & PR's feathers everywhere. When I let them out in the morning they seem to get excited & run around & sometimes will flap their wings. I have never witnessed any fights & there is always someone home, & they are very protected so I can't imagine...
My silkies have completely won my heart!! I'm obsessed!! They're so laid back compared to some of my other breeds!! She (I hope) just fell asleep while I was holding her.
I just added silkies to my flock & 2 were about a week younger. I put in some fodder (which they love) to distract while I introduced the new babies & never had a problem!!
I just picked up 2 silkies today & im going back for more tomorrow!! I thought my australourpe was a pretty awesome bird, but think I'm completely in LOVE with my silkies!
