The chicken nipples are a great idea - for chickens since they don't like to play in the water. I am wondering how long it would take the ducks to empty a system like that once they learn to hold the nipples open to get water, especially if they don't have access to a pool. I used to have water...
LOL, mine do that too. To me it looks like they are trying to find a cooler spot, but once it's hollowed out they all pile in; so much for cooling off. Sometimes they roll around in the dirt and kick up dust for a dust bath to get rid of pests on their body.
I have absolutely no ideas for keeping ducks and chickens together. We tried it. It didn't work no matter what we did. The day the ducks became territorial of the food dish and attacked a couple of the chickens for daring to come to eat with them, (Both ducks actually dragged a chicken around by...

Can anyone tell me if baby chicks like treats? and what kind? Seems kinda boring to be eating the same feed day in and day out. My babies are about a week old.
I bought four brahma chicks from Tractor Supply last Thursday. Their weights were 42 grams and 44 grams. I figured they were a couple days old because they all still had their "egg tooth." This morning I noticed that the smallest one is developing wing feathers and tail feathers - you can see...
So glad I found this forum. I was wondering the same thing myself because today I became the proud owner (or do they own me now?) of four little Brahma chicks that I just can't seem to leave be. Love holding them, watching them, and taking pics. So cute. Now I am more relieved about holding them...
