Hi again - my hen still has sour or impacted crop. She still eats And drinks but constantly or almost constantly twists her neck around. I got some copper sulfate — my question is if I put this in the water is it ok for my other 5 healthy hens to drink it too?
It seems to have gone down somewhat but not all the way - it feels squishy and she is vomiting. I didnt know that about the garlic so I will stop. Do you think adding molasses to the water would be useful? is that ok for my other 5 hens to drink too?
My hen Sweetie has sour crop. I have tried giving yogurt (unpasteur), garlic, ACV, and causing her to vomit. She is not getting any better - this mroning I actually saw her vomit just while scratching around so maybe even worse. I have to go for a work trip for 1 week so I need to help her asap...
Hmm, well an old neighbor who has had chickens for 40 years recommended it so...And she (my hen) is totally fine, even a little better. I cant find a vet to see her so I need to manage it myself.
Sweetie definitely has sour crop but I dont know if it is impacted as well. I tipped her upside down yesterday and htis morning and she did vomit a little bit of noxious fluid. Her crop did seem a little smaller today but she is almost constantly doing the head motion and is only eating a...
Appreciate the tips. I have only had hens for 3 years and this the first medical issues to pop up. I am especially worried as I need to go on a work trip week after next for the whole week and my husband cant really do what I am doing and can barely tell the birds apart. :)
I do give the birds grit. She was up in the roost but so far I havent seen an egg from her but I am not totally sure (I have 6 hens). I gave her some lumps of coconut oil which she gobbled up. Interesting about the hen that had an enlarged crop for years. I do feel that sweetie is a little off...
I am pretty sure that she does have some kind of crop issues because it was full before she ate this morning. I am trying to massage it but doesnt seem to help. But at least for the moment she's continuing to eat/drink/furiously kick leaves looking for worms so I will let her be. Hopefully it...
Hi all - this morning I think sweetie’s crop was somewhat full. I tried to massage it - it didn’t seem particularly hard or squishy. She is also making those head twists occasionally. But she’s also still eating and drinking and chortling away per usual. Should I do more? Or just see if it...
