Hen making weird head movements

I have had a couple live to be 10-11 years old, but have lost many earlier to reproductive disorders, water belly, cancer, crop problems, and a few to daytime predators. Years ago most people raised chickens for eggs, and then replaced them when they laid fewer eggs. Butchering the extra roosters and older birds was common.

So I am just updating this thread months later. Sweetie did not get better on her own or with the various things I tried. After calling a dozen vets, I found one who sees hens and he made an incision, took out a wad of grass from her crop, sowed her up and she has been as good as gold -- back to leaping on top of the other hens and chortling her days away.
