This morning I peeked at the baby bunnies. One little white one still has eyes closed. I picked up a Grey one and it started squealing. Mama came after me... 😂 She was jumping at my feet and biting. 😳 I put the baby back. She kept walking around the outside, sniffing the lid and standing guard...
I have 7 breeding roosters and 6 more in a bachelor pen. Six of my breeding roos stay in my main coop with about 50 hens. The 7th roo stays in my duck coop with 4 other hens.
I don't have any problem with fighting. They will peck at each other in the yard if someone isn't respecting the...
I certainly did not expect them to throw white kits... 🤔 I assume they are both carrying recessive genes that produced white fur and red eyes (albino).

I guess that means I should also assume the...
It got up to 60 today so I had the first real opportunity to take a good look at the baby bunnies. There's 5....3 greyish brown and 2 white. They are fat as little butterballs and SO CUTE! Not all of them have their eyes open yet but it's close... 😍
I'm amazed they survived below zero...
Oh no! My heart breaks for you... When will it end? 😔
I saw an article today about the concerns that screwworm is going to hit Texas hard. If it does, we are not far behind... Horrific. The methods they were using in the past (releasing sterile males) is apparently not working.
Yeah, I did that in my duck/chicken hoop coop... (below)
But I built my garden hoop house several years earlier. I originally built it in a way that would allow me to disassemble it easily and move it around. Except that I never have... But there is a a 3 - 4 ft gap between the panel at the...
Finally had a chance to do a QUICK check on the baby bunnies. I expected there to be 6. I only saw 4 live ones in the tub. The other 2 could be buried underneath the cuddle puddle or maybe they died and mom already pulled them out. DH found a dead kit outside the tub on Friday... I'm pretty sure...
Everyone down here... DH and all my kids.... Even my DS in the military... Are ALL off work or school tomorrow.
Except me. We are expected to work remotely.
I am worried about the newborn kits... Even though I keep telling myself they will be fine. She had them in the orange tub you see in the picture. It was packed with hay and she pulled a decent amount of fur, from the quick look I had. She blocked the entrance with dirt... I assume to keep them...
I've actually been worried about rats, but I haven't seen any around the barn with the cats out there. They tend to live the high life around my chicken coops which are far from the rabbits. However, that's one of the reasons I'm opting for electric poultry netting around the outside...
I don't think she is too warm. Ever since we brought her home at 8 weeks old, she has almost always had a human around because I worked from home or the kids would be home. Rarely was she ever left by herself... But the few times she was, as a puppy, she would destroy things. We got her a friend...
We have coyotes, coons, Hawks, etc... I currently have a heavy duty tarp over the top. In the spring, I will attach tin sheeting for a more long-term protection. I also need to finish adding some fencing up to the roof. It currently stops about 4 - 6 ft off the ground. I also want to add some...
Ugh, I hate this weather...
The automatic door to my bachelor coop has stopped working. Actuator is dead, I think. So my male duck is being separated from the girls because he's being a jerk. He's distressed by the quarantine and, since the door won't close, he stays out in the run at night...
