    Chick w/a bobbing head

I have (5) 1-month-old silkie chicks & one of them seems to be having an issue. It wI'll repeatedly "bob" its' head like it's doing the Egyptian dance. It will do this for a bit (like 5-10) seconds & then it's fine. Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

    Feeding ducks chicken food

I was thinking along these same lines since many foods seem to have such varying degrees of %. A friend uses an all-flock pellet (her ducks are adults) that was recommended to her & hers has 20% protein! I've never used medicated feed. I try to stay as organic & natural as possible but I...

    Hen or Roo?

Help- is this a hen or roo? It's @ 18 wks old. It does crow, but in a different fashion than my frizzle roo & has absolutely no spurs. It's feet look exactly like all my other hen. It only seems to pick at & mount my gimpy hen who everyone else also picks on. My frizzle roo is @ 16 or 17 weeks...

    Cemanis and 4H

We are members of 4H and have been looking to add a new breed to our flock and are very interested in Cemanis. I have read that they are winter hardy and are a docile, friendly breed. Any information that can be passed along would be greatly appreciated.

My Experience w/ Lancaster Fancy Fowl

Too bad I wasn't closer- I would love to have your rooster! As far as LFF, I have tried calling & emailing in regards to their serama chicks & have not received any answers. I'm unable to find any serama breeders here in NJ so I was hoping for some positive feedback.

Better to brood with a hen or in a brooder?

We had to rehome one of our chicks that we brooded because it turned out to be a cockerel. We are going to the farm for a new pullet- since we are only getting one or two are we better off letting a broody hen take care of the chick or putting them in a brooder? I have a broody silkie & a black...

    Cockerel or pullet? Breed?

***UPDATE*** Super Chicken went to a new home where he will be the resident stud/protector. Thanks for all the help! This was sold to me as a brahma pullet when it was 3 weeks old. I think they were wrong on both parts.

    Hatcheries in NJ

Does anyone know of a farm in NJ (preferably cental-southern) where I can buy eggs to hatch (chicks & ducks) & allows you to bring the hatchlings back? I would love for my kids to see the whole process but I do not want a rooster or male ducks as I don't want future babies.
