I have a 1 yr old RIR that recently has developed a bald patch on her neck. She is a scissor beak and the low hen.in the pecking order of only 3 hens. My other australorp is very jealous of her, soni just assumed it was her pulling my RIR's feathers, but then I started reading about mites and...
Unfortunately, my lady didn't make it. Tylosin showed up in the mail 3 days after she passed so I didn't even get a chance to try it. I just got another hen starting to shake her head so it looks like I will be going down the same road again. Luckily, I have the Tylosin on hand this time. I...
It is about 66 degrees here during the day and drops to the low 40s at night. Should i be worried about leaving her outside in her crate at those temps?
Update on my hen. Things are not looking great. There was not a feed store in my city that sells Tylosin. Pet store didn't have fish mox. I decided to order a antibiotic online that stated it had Tylosin in it. I paid for expedited shipping and it has been 5 days and still no medicine for...
No, I am not able to find any. The best I have found is a product from Pure homemaker called Ambroxitil that lists Tylosin as an active ingredient. It won't get here for 5 days which I worry will be too late.
She started with the head shaking, drippy nose and slight rattle I would say about 10 days ago. She has never produced an egg and her wattle and comb has always been miniature compared to my other hens. Her comb perked up in color slightly today, but physically she is acting much worse. I...
Is there any hope for my hen? She is a 7 month old Buff. Last week, I noticed a slight rattle in her breathing and she was shaking her head every once in a while. Today, the rattle is very prominent. She is open mouth breathing and very lethargic. I have seen her pick at food, but not...
That is so, helpful, thank you! Her hobble is a little bit better today, so hopefully is was just a sprain of some sort. She is willing to eat and drink so I'll keep crossing my fingers that it isn't more serious. I appreciate your response!
I walked out to see my little bantam hen limping this morning. No other signs of injury until today. The limp is on her left foot and when I watch her, it looks like half the time her toes are not uncurling when she sets her foot down. I have recently started allowing my chicks to free graze...
This is my first time raising chicks. I grew up with chicks at my grandma's house next door, but never had any of my own. I have had my first set of chicks for 8 weeks now and it has been a bumpy ride!! I have learned a lot and enjoy my ladies (although I'm pretty sure I have two rooms, now🤪).
Thank you so much for your response! I do leave their feed in the run, and they could have access to it if they wanted, but it is nice and dark and they roost in the coop, away from the food. I do not think they eat during the night. She is acting like her other sisters, but I have not been...
I got this chicken from a backyard breeder about 8 weeks ago. I just noticed in the last two days that her chest looked very 'puffy'. My husband held her yesterday and made me realize that it was more than puffy, her crop seemed to bulge. I picked her up this morning around 8 am and massaged...
