I turned an old homemade rabbit pen into brooder . I finally added a hanging feeder and water plus a little bar for them to play on . I was wasting a ton of food with the long red plastic feeders that sit on bottom and fill up with shavings the water I added a u bolt to top and works like a charm
Yes I have heard that about the sex link . Wonder if I could do a five egg group and put a five compartment divider in incubator at beginning of lock down . Guess I could make one and move hydrometer to each compartment and make sure humidity stays rt that would be the only issue I could think...
I might do a little experiment. Band each WR hen with her own number .1 to 10. Isolate each hen for a day or two , collect those eggs and number them with chicken . Incubate the 10 eggs watch like a hawk during hatch to see witch chicken or chickens hatch out red . If that works then I will...
Maybe one or two of the 10 hens does have the silver factor that's why the 3 red chicks hatched . The one that died trying to get out was a red chick so actually there were 4 out of 27 were red all the rest blackish
Actually I have 10 white rocks and 2 RIR Roosters . I collected 30 eggs over 5 days 3 I tossed on day 10 that weren't fertile. Left me with 27 all but one hatched . Not bad for the first time incubating . All white Rocks and RIR came from Cackle Hatchery.

i hatched 27 eggs from my RIR rooster and white Plymouth Rock hens . Well I thought that I would have sex link chicks but so far all chicks are black except 2 are buff so does that mean I have 25 roosters what are the odds of that?
Ok I put the little real egg back in there yesterday with some golf balls went out tonite to check and one of my dark Cornish hens was sitting on them . I'll remove real egg tomarrow
Found 1rst eggs today in mudd in chicken yard 19 weeks and one day . Would it be a good idea to put egg in nesting box , would this help them to figure out where to lay them or will they just have to figure out on there own?
