So the deed is done and they are buried 7 feet down with my wonderful old horse. Disinfecting has begun. Can you give me some names of hatcheries. My kids are heartbroken and I would love to be able to give them something to look forward to.
I did talk to my state vet. He said we could vaccinate after our birds were asymptomatic and they would not be a danger to other birds. He seemed very sure of himself. He is the vet in charge of poultry at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. I am getting conflicting info from other folks...
Do you yourself ever bring in birds from other places? Their doesn't seem to be a way to know that you aren't getting sick birds. These had no sign of illness and I had them for a month before anyone here got sick. I believe this is much more widespread than we think.
Thank you. I have read them all except for the one from pa state. Maybe I can contact the vet fromNew Bolton. that seems like the newest info on the three vaccine types. I didn't see where they addressed my situation. If I vaccinate, will it be safe for people to come to my place and...
I have had a small flock of chickens on my farm for 16 years. I have bought and sold birds from and to different people over the years (not a ton) and never had problems with disease. My birds are in movable houses surrounded by electric netting until it snows then in our big building...
I am selling my entire flock of Buff Brahma Bantams. Father and son roos, 1 unrelated roo, 2yr.old hen, 1 unrelated pullet, 4 daughter pullets. Will make a terrific start for someone or a nice outcross. They are all relatively tame and a couple are real pets.
Sorry, I was having a brain drain day...I know they are Golden-laced. They belong to my daughter. We got three chicks from Mcmurray's. Two ended up roosters(of course). I will try to post a pic of the hen. We have to keep one of the boys, I just wondered which was better. Failing in that...
I cannot seem to get this cleared up. This little guy has had this problem forever. None of the others with him have any issues at all. I just feed layer and a little dry cat food now and then. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
We are southcentral Pa and have had a few run-ins with a leucistic(sp?) red-tail hawk. I thought it was a snowy owl the first time I saw it, so I called the local Audobon Society. They showed up with a spotting scope and found out that it was a "white" red tail. Very cool, yet I ended up...
I am dealing with the same thing on a somewhat smaller scale. Check with the local animal control. We did and found that not only can we shoot the dogs...which in the interest of neighborly relations we are loath to do, but if the dog warden has to come out they will be fined $1,500 per dog/...
