    Silkie Sexing 3 months

Thanks so much for the reply! My husband, who knows nothing about Silkies other than than he loves to hold him, said "it's a boy" LOL He's almost a year old and has never tried to mount his roommate, and has never crowed! His name by the way is Thelma as in Thelma and Louise the movie hahahaha

    Silkie Sexing 3 months

I will likely never find this thread again! I've had multiple strokes causing brain damage. I don't know if it's allowed or not but can someone send a message to me on Facebook (Tracee Pettee) so I get my answers? I am attaching a photo of one of my Silkies because to me, it looks like she/he...

can you travel with 4 week old chicks?

    Not impressed with shell strength.

I save my egg shells, let them dry out and mash them with my potato masher. Hahahaha then I add them to the food when feeding my chickens!

    Playhouse Chicken Coop?

What a cute idea! I am a "newbie" to raising chickens as an adult, Silkies to be exact, but I have read a lot about raising chickens and grew up with them on our lil farm. From what I have learned, you need areas large enough to house certain numbers of chickens! I think having 8-10 chickens in...

USED to have grass before chickens-HELP!!

Recently I saw a portable chicken coop! The owners would periodically move the entire coop to new areas of their yard so there wouldn't be so much damage! Other than that, I would use a portable fence to block off areas of new seed. I have a baby playpen that I use to keep my mini flock...

Help! My wife is mad at me for feeding the chickens pizza!

Foods That You Should Not Feed To Chickens In addition to the above, here are some foods that you should not feed to chickens: Avocado skin and pits contain persin, which is toxic to chickens. Avoid citrus juice and skins. Don’t give chickens any edible containing salt, sugar, coffee, or...

How do I keep the run dry

I really think that you should have learned more about chickens before you got them and if you can't keep the coop much dryer than the photo shows then you shouldn't have chickens. This seems awfully unhealthy to me. You could put about 6 inches of wood chips on the floor to help absorb the...

How do I keep the run dry

Wow-I think your question and the photo of your chicken coop shows you may have a big problem! A google search showed many results. You really should consider trying one of them. It isn't okay in my opinion to have a coop where the chickens are always wet. Of course this is just by looking at...
