Just a thought.
Along these lines -
I found these two articles to be kinda interesting.
I could not go with the vegatarian side of it but I like the non consumerism message.
It's about a group of people called "Freegans."
It's about trying to live as close to free as possible through "recycling."
Also, both...
I can't find pellets at my local Fleet farm or Tractor supply. Just crumbles. I guess I should try a feed mill.
They seem to waste alot of my crumbles. They wont eat the fines.
Feathersite says that there are only around 3,000 in existance. Odds of finding them in the States may be quite low.

I aggree with Patandchickens statment -
a) unless they are meat birds, your chickens will be perfectly well able to fly over a 4' fence, and
b) there is absolutely no way to predict whether or not they will choose to do so on any given day (or ever).
suspecting that a lot depends on how sedate...
I did the same thing with my two Labs.
As pups I put them on leash and sat with the chickens.
Pretty much anything they did shy of ignoring them got them a correction in the form of little yank of the leash.
At that time I would very sternly tell them "those are my chickens." Then I took them...
Hey, no flaming...I like him.
I eat with my mouth closed though.
And I would not eat Balut.
P.s - Just a little tongue in cheek kiddin on the flaming remark, I don't really care.
Well if you have a shotgun just get some #6 birdshot and stand off about 20 yards, then have some one open the trap. When it comes out to run away you should be able to hit it. The diameter of your pattern will depend on the choke tube in the barrel, but it should be several inches at distance.
