    Limping pullet follow up

She has a definite limp/struggle and her toes have been really lax, but again that's getting better too. She's much more mobile this week though. Going back two weeks, she pretty much stayed sitting and would only hobble over to food/water. Hard time getting up and hard time getting back...

    Limping pullet follow up

I think it's getting better after getting worse?! Yesterday I did some frontier medicine and soaked the leg in epsom bath. Afterwards, pulled the scab off and made tiny incision because it looked like there was a head or kernel inside the sore (I was thinking staph, like bumblefoot). Nothing...

    Limping pullet follow up

Hello- I've posted once or twice about this but wanted to follow up. About 2 weeks ago my pullet started limping and there was no obvious issues causing it. Fast forward to last Friday. There's a bump/scabby spot near where the scale meet the feathers and some swelling has occurred. During...

    Limping Pullet Help

Ah, thanks for the tip! I have not given her vitamins. Suggestions on type/brand? I gave her a bath to clean her up and look her over again and it looks like there's some swelling of the right ankle joint (the backwards knee part). Agree, or am I seeing things?

    Limping Pullet Help

I have a little pullet, maybe 12 weeks, that has a nasty limp. Not sure what triggered it. And I see I can't post a video... I haven't been able to find anything that I can conclusively say is wrong. Nothing obviously broken, no swelling, no splaying, etc. Since I can't tell where or what...

    Guess the sex!

Here you go! These photos are about a week old! The two white and two blacks are from the original post. When I figured I only had one pullet and got another OE/OE mix (the auburn one) that was for sure a female! She's has the same dad as all of these guys. White roo (indoor pic) = Porkchop...

    Guess the sex!

Technically no supposed to, but I'm on acreage and am going to try. Whoever is the mellowest fellow will stay. The others are likely going to freezer camp

    Guess the sex!

    Welp, I have three roosters!

11 weeks old. This is a rooster, yeah?

Just sharing the rest of the babes, since why not :) All five have the same dad (F2 OE), so they're all half siblings. The whites are out of and F1 OE, the blacks are out of a Whiting True Blue, and the red one is out of an unknown green egg (probably another F1 OE though)

11 weeks old. This is a rooster, yeah?

I don't know much about chicken genetics, but I think so! I got this one (and three others) as straight run chicks from a breeder here. All four came from the breeders 'rainbow pen'. The rooster in that pen is an F2 OE and I know he's got Cream Legbar and Marans genes. The CL is likely where...

Thanks. That's why I've been hoping for hen. Super handsome. I'm not supposed to keep roos here, but I might try with this guy!

    Guess the sex!

Everyone's favorite game! Boys or girls? They're all 6 weeks old. The whites are OE x OE and the darks are OE (roo) x True Blue. I have my guesses, but I'm curious what y'all think!! EDIT: There's only 4 birds here! 2 whites and 2 darks

    Laying!

My ladies arrived on May 20 and laying started on Dec 1! Getting 2-4 eggs a day presently and I'm thrilled with the variety, which was intentional when I chose my birds :)
