I have the 600 with 2 3-week EEs plus a 1.5 week Faverolle and a 1.5 week Ameracauna. They all fit for now. In another 2 weeks it will be wall to wall chicks. Hopefully the “bigs” will migrate out. Sometimes they get half under half out during the day or sit on a low perch in the brooder...
My township is strict so I just visit my sister’s farm. She has all of the above (minus guineas) and alpacas and a donkey and a miniature horse. Now if she would just get some 🐑!
I was worried about shipping chicks, too, so I called Meyer today. The nice gentleman said that ordering fewer was actually safer for the chicks. Apparently in larger numbers ”trampling“ is the leading cause of loss. He assured me that my 3 would have a heat pack and be just fine. Poor guy...
I was almost to you yesterday - if only I had known! I’m not sure what I want to add just yet but those dark brown & olive eggs are tempting. When I lived in Florida I was about 20 minutes away from Greenfire. I remember the Welbars, now! Can’t remember her name but talked with the lady...
Hello Everyone!

I'm not sure if f I ever updated on Brynja & Sigge- you were right on all three of my EE chicks! Everybody is laying now so no doubt they're all ladies!
My girls are all grown up and finally laying! Aesa, BR was first @ 21 weeks, then Saga @ almost 22 weeks, then Sigge & Brynja one month later @ 22 1/2 weeks!
Oddly, that was their previously established rank in the pecking order, too. Coincidence? Hmmm.
Saga is laying, too! I'm finally getting fresh eggs!! I waited 22 weeks for this moment . . . And we haven't eaten a single egg since they started laying.
