Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

What are your thoughts on my Ginger. I bought her pre-sexed from a farm but now I am hearing from others that have bought their chicks there that they got a lot of roos.

How old when you got 'her' and how old now @gbartha ? Looks to still be blowing out down feathers so maybe only 3 weeks? Seems like a lot of comb for a pullet that age.

Frankly, other than sex links, I wouldn't trust gender identification on young chicks from a generic farm. Vent sexing is a learned skill that must be done soon after hatching and even the biggest hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy. And some of that 10% may be due to them going through a lot of birds really fast and missing one here and there. Presumably there are some breeds that can be wing sexed but EEs aren't one of them.

I hope I'm wrong on Ginger!

I got ginger at 5 days old. She is now almost 6 weeks old, born 4th of July.

So far, they both look like pullets, especially Sigge.  You should know for sure in a week or 2, so post updates, especially if you see any cockerel signs  (sudden comb growth or dark red wing feathers).

I'm not sure if f I ever updated on Brynja & Sigge- you were right on all three of my EE chicks! Everybody is laying now so no doubt they're all ladies!

Greetings all, I cannot remember if I have ever seen a comment / question regarding Bantam EE or Ameraucanas here, but here goes! I got some hatching eggs on eBay (7/12 survived & hatched!)for my obstinately broody Bantam Wyandotte. I thought, as a first time mom it would be nice for her to have babies in her own weight class. They are all out of very blue tiny eggs, and the breeder says they should have beards and muffs. They're a week old as of yesterday and their wing feathers have just erupted! Now some are starting tail feathers. I'm a bit concerned because I have heard that fast feathering is a male trait. Can anyone give me the low down on this? I assume that they're still too little to sex by looking at the feathers, but here are some pictures anyway.(The photos I've seen of their parent flock include what look like blue/wheaten roos and hens, so I'm guessing they could color out as just about anything.) Any comments are welcome. Thanks.
{The mom hen, Chickenary, is a "failed" attempt to create Banatm Buff/Columbian Wyandotte. She's a great little bird & I wish I had bought more like her when the breeder quit the project... She is NOT the biological mother of any of these chicks.}
