    Eye Issues

I don't see any lesions or sores on on her comb or wattles at the time being. I wish I could get better pics. She just won't cooperate. I even tried to get her to say cheese. I will keep her under observation and treating her. And see if it clears up. If not. Might have to go to the vet. Will...

    Eye Issues

See if this actually works. One of my young wyandottes seems to be having eye problems. Been treating her with VetRx for 4 days. No change. Took pics of her good eye and bad eye for comparison. She eats well and is very active. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Barred Rock

Barred rocks are quickly becoming my favorite breed. Mine are extremely friendly and tame. Every time me or my wife sit down. We end up wearing barred rocks. Chickens on the shoulders, head and lap. They follow us around and are always under foot. My other girls run up on us. And if we don't...

Official BYC Poll: The Worst Predator

I am in a city setting. So definitely dogs are the biggest predator threat for me. I friend of mine had his entire flock wiped out by a dog 2 years ago. And I have lost 2 birds to them.

What do you have in your flock?

Don't have a variety like most here. But here are mine. 16 Easter Eggers 6 Silver Laced Wyandottes 4 Gold laced Wyandottes And am currently growing out 2 barred rocks. Plus going to be starting my silkie army for my blackberry patch in about 2 months. Or whenever I get around to building a...

    Langshang Chickens

I was going through craigslist. Saw a posting for these and stating that they laid purplish brown eggs. Being a lover of the almighty easter egger. I immediately started doing research. Found 2 camps in this matter. Brown eggs and purple eggs. Which is the norm? Who here has experience with...

    A Tall Order

Thanks to all for the advice. I have appreciated it. Looks like probably going to be Silkies and not ducks. Take care all.

    A Tall Order

I really don't like clipping wings. Tried it my first year. Wasn't fun for both parties. Silkies are a possibility. And we have a friend who raises them. I just tend to worry about them. They just look so delicate. Would they integrate into the flock? Or would the blackberries be their permanent...

    A Tall Order

They are thornless blackberries. Prime ark travelers and prime ark freedoms.

    A Tall Order

Might be a bit to ask. But here it goes. Looking for a quiet, flightless duck. I am looking for something to weed my blackberries. Tried it with my EEs. But they hop the fence and go visit my none too impressed neighbors. I know I can get all drakes. But I was hoping to get some eggs out of the...
