See if this actually works. One of my young wyandottes seems to be having eye problems. Been treating her with VetRx for 4 days. No change. Took pics of her good eye and bad eye for comparison. She eats well and is very active. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I don't see any lesions or sores on on her comb or wattles at the time being. I wish I could get better pics. She just won't cooperate. I even tried to get her to say cheese. I will keep her under observation and treating her. And see if it clears up. If not. Might have to go to the vet. Will wait and see. Keep you all updated.
Can you get someone to hold her so you can get a better photo?
What are you seeing - swelling, discharge, pus, bubbles, etc.?
A peck to the eye, dust/dirt, molds and respiratory illness are a few common problems that may affect a chicken's eye. General care for one eye that is swelling, watery or has pus in it would be to flush it with saline, remove any dirt/pus you see and apply Vetericyn eye gel, Terramycin eye ointment or other suitable ophthalmic ointment.
If any symptoms like lethargy, coughing, sneezing, runny nose (mucous) or going off feed/water occur, then she may need further supportive care and be seen by a vet.
