My experience is that is most likely a sore, and not bumblefoot, yet. Those points can be an area that will become infected, since the skin is already broken. I would soak in Epsom salts fora couple days and see if that helps improve anything before doing anything more drastic.
I just went and adjusted the lamps and checked on them. He is supporting his left side on the box wall, and moved around using that.
When sitting, he was turning his head backwards over his body looking around. But when he was doing the head kept rolling back towards his front, so he was...
The room fluctuates between high 60s to high 70s. I have been adjusting the lamps up and down accordingly. The birds all do still like to hang out under the heat lights...
Here are some pictures of the brooding setup. He is the black bird in the little brooder. I had (5) birds in the little brooder earlier, and (11) in the big one. The have been growing very fast, but I haven't noticed any issues with overcrowding. The heat bulbs are 75 watt reptile heat...
I am getting a picture of the brooders loading. He can move around, but not quickly, or gracefully. He kind of drags the left side along. HE can move the leg and neck, but atm is preferring to sit and slump.
80 not 85? Today is 2 weeks from the hatch date.
There is a waterer in the brooder box, so he could have hit that. He always was trying to jump out of the brooder too when I take the wire top off. So it is definitely a possibilty he crashed into something.
I have a two week old Black Copper Maran who has been a very spirited bird in the brooder. Very active and jumpy. All looked fine this morning, but about two hours ago we found him sitting kind of slumped in the far corner from the brooder lamp. He is slumping on his left leg/side, and while...
Well, I checked her oil gland today. I don't know exactly what it is supposed to look like, but it was very oily.
I attached more pictures of her wings. Something I missed before is her right wing feathers still show where I clipped them almost 2 years ago! I thought she was molting...
She is 2 1/2 years old. I have 11 ducks, 2 of which are drakes. 5 females and 1 male were hatched this spring. The "original" ducks don't really mingle with the new ones, so I think she would only be mating with the one drake. I have not checked her oil gland, and am not quite sure how to go...
One of my duck's wings also looks similar. I wasn't sure if it was hen-pecking, but I have never observed her being messed with by the other ducks. Maybe it is the same thing. Most of her flight feathers are just the quills. She looks damp since she just came out of the pool.
