BCM Cockerel or Pullet?

Here is my 8 week old Black Copper Maran (breed is a guess, as this guy came free with the other birds). It was pretty feathered at 1 week old, and has been fully feathered like this after 2 weeks. With the large comb, I assume it to be a cockerel, but could it be a very rapid developing hen? I don't have any other BCMs to compare it to.

Their comb is definitely big but there isn't enough wattle growth for me to saw cockerel. Their comb is also still very pale for a cockerel at this age. Especially compared to the cockerel in the back of your third picture. With that I'd likely conclude pullet if this was my chick but things could change.

Well, I think you are right! His comb has started reddening up, but the wattles still have yet to come in. We have 14 females...do you think there is any chance of keeping both him and the RIR rooster? The BCM is super docile at the moment, and probably the shyest and most nervous one of the flock.
