You’re right. Your Orpingtons are so plump and gorgeous! I was just in such a state of denial while they were still growing. I figured they couldn’t all be the same breed in a variety batch. I had too much faith in the hatchery. I’ll be getting any other chickens from a more reliable source in...
I definitely think hens 1&2 are the same breed and that hens 3&4 are also the same breed. They look similar to each other in body types and temperaments. So if you think 2 is an Orpington then 1 probably is as well.
No eggs yet. They just made 18 weeks. I’m guessing that will settle the question. This is my first time raising chickens and it’s just so surprising how hard it is to ID breeds. Not that it matters, they’re all great chickens but I’m just frustrated that I can’t figure it out.
It’s just so crazy. A week ago I was sure the third, forth, and the roo were all Orpingtons. Now I think they’re all Andalusians which make me question hens 1&2 because they were really looking like Andalusians to me before.
Hey y’all! I’ve got four chickens and one rooster that I’m trying to ID the breeds of. I think they’re all either Orpingtons or Andalusians but it’s possible they could be other breeds. I got them from Meyer’s Hatchery back in May.
