I have the same thing happening to one of my BO. She is the same size as her "sister" but her comb and wattle are still a light color and not developed. She is not laying and acts very healthy. Her"sister" has been laying for several weeks. I am hoping come spring she will catch up. Her...
I'm still new at this and this is our first winter with chickens. I'm confused on the difference between a draft and ventilation. Our coop is not insulated and for ventilation the eaves of the house are open (covered with metal screens for protection). The eaves are on the north and south...
I'm going out on a limb and say roo! I got three buffs that were all supposed to be hens but with a little time it was definate that 1 was a boy. Mine looked very similiar to yours and were the same age. Good luck with yours, I have kept him and they are 23 weeks old now.
Do you put the ACV is the water as a daily treatment for adults? My girls are 23 weeks old. I'm still quite new to this and if this is a preventative measure, I would like to use it. Thanks so much for all this great information - I learn something every time I come to this site. It is the best!
We have Two Stroke BO Roo(sounded like a two stroke engine when we first brought him home)
Nosy - first to check everything out Red Sex Link Hen
Crash BO Hen(can't land worth a plug nickel)
Buttercup BO Hen
And 2 waiting for names LOL
He is BEAUTIFUL! Two Stroke makes a weird noise when he seeing or hears something too. My biggest concern is that he now ruffling his feathers and charging the girls. I'm sure this is probably normal but is a little unnerving when I am in the run with them!
I was hoping for all hens but the person I got them from only had 2 hens and this guy. So far he seems sweet, we have had them 4 day:D, so I am hoping for the best.
This is Two Stroke ( my son said he sounds like a two stroke engine). I believe he is a rooster but would like a second opinion. My new babies are between 14-16 weeks old and he is not crowing yet but definately is the leader and protector of the others. Thanks!
This is one of the girls!
Have you looked at Hendersonville - where I am from!! It is a wonderful town, near Asheville. Livestock and chickens are welcome. We are growing and I have noticed more large properties for sale. I grew up here and don't plan on leaving! We are close to Brevard, the Parkway and there is...
The coop is done and I am so proud of DH! I think he did a great job and put up with my inability to hit a nail! What do you think?
We are going to get the new girls tomorrow - 3 buffs and 3 red sex-links. I can't wait to see if they like their new home.
We are in the process of finishing our new coop and this our first time at having chickens. I have been reading for weeks and LOVE this forum:D. My question is: do you need to put food and water inside the coop as well as outside in the run? Or water in coop only? I'm very confused. I have...
