Hey Folks,
Have had issues with 5 older birds eating the odd egg, when they decide to lay as it is.... We've tried the soap in the empty egg thing, rolling egg nests, and they still seem to be able to get at them.... Thing is, I have 5 new girls scheduled to come in a couple of days and...
Great idea, I did go to a Grower mix in the fall when they slowed and were moulting, perhaps I'll go back to build up their protein stores...Thanks, TJ
Have always done well with Red sex-Links, reliable eggers for quite a while, have to say the most recent have lived the longest, did a grower formula for a while in the late fall and I think that helped, considering going back to it as ChickNanny13 suggested...
Yeah, I think the world of my pets with benefits....even the irregularly laying bearded ladies as I'm fond of calling the Easter Eggers...they're just so darned pretty...I do generally get 3 new birds every spring, but I found the Easter Eggers, 'used' last fall, wasn't a great return after...
Hey Folks,
Realizing it's winter and all, but we've had a complete egg shutdown for a few months now and getting harder and harder to dissuade my spouse from introducing a pot into the equation when we talk chicken...
I've tried the extra light supplementation, they've been getting loads of...
Thanks for all the advice Folks, looks like it's a wait a little longer pattern we need to be in now. Guess they won't go into the stew pot just yet. They are friendly little birds and the muffs and beards look so cool...

Seller said they were laying well but had reduced a bit with the deep cold spell...it’s February after all so cold, but getting milder and the days getting longer...
Hey Folks,
Bought some “used” Easter eggers off Kijiji for sale site. Beauty birds, but after a month, still no eggs. I realize moving them in January and with only 2 birds in the existing flock, they may be a little stressed.
Thought perhaps a couple of weeks with no eggs should be expected...
That's a great article with tons of useful info in it. Thanks for sharing and too bad it's not in a more easily accessable area of the forum.
Thanks again,

When I started I was thinking fried or roasted, but now the silly little buggers are my friends. Happy to see me every morning, even if I don't have their favourite canned corn. Look at them as pets with benefits. Thinking that I'll just let them go to sleep some night and not wake up and...
