When will a rooster start crowing?

My rooster was slightly over 6months when he first started crowing. It took him a while to move up in the pecking order being he was the youngest of the bunch.

    chicken talk

My hens love wheat bread and scratch. If I shake the bag of scratch, they come pretty quickly. I haven't noticed them "talking" about food, but they have a pretty loud "laying song."

Help my hen is a rooster!!

Thanks for the help. He is still scared of the girls, but occasionally will puff up his neck feathers at them. Hopefully, I will get some chicks in the future. All the hens are molting now.

They all want the same nest box! video

Mine use the same box too. They will get on top of whoever is in the box to get their turn.

One found a hole and got eaten. :(The other has been doing well, but is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order. The past few...

    newbie questions about free range

I have a secure, wire -covered large run for my hens to keep the hawks and stray dogs out. I keep feed/water in the coop, but let my hens out about 1 1/2 hours before sunset to graze in my fenced 1/2 acre yard. Once they know where they are supposed to sleep ( I waited one month before letting...
