    Impossible to break brooder!

My turkey Lurkey was terribly broody in June. I just blocked off her nest and kept bathing and feeding her treats. And one of my barred rocks was also stubborn. Good luck.

    Impossible to break brooder!

I have to stop mine because I live in Arizona and it's too hot, its buggy. The risk of them getting sick or overheated. I do not have roosters either. From what I have read, its best not to let hens sit on unfertile eggs.

    Impossible to break brooder!

I give my broody birdies a cool bath and remove their nest. Then feed a treat like watermelon or dried worms. Sometimes it can take 3 or more cool baths. It lowers their hormonal levels. I have read that it is too hot where I live to allow them to sit. If I do not take the nest they go right...

Is Combat ant poisen traps safe?

The DE caused them to relocate. We have had severe rain floods and the colonies have washed up from deep in the earth. It is much bettr today. I mixed the DE in with top soil and they are gone. My birdies are free range, they have a henhouse they only go in to lay eggs. They also have a dog...

Is Combat ant poisen traps safe?

Thanks. My daughter rescued me and gave me a huge bag of diatomaceous earth. I am talking literally 6000 square feet of ants. The washed up from the floods.

Is Combat ant poisen traps safe?

Yesterday we had a major monsoon and it has washed up billions or ants. I have hosed and swept them off my porch but today there are some in my chicken coop. I have ordered diatomaceous earth but in the mean time can I put these disks in areas my chickens graze? Or should I keep them in my house...

    Can you identify this snake?

I had a very small sidewinder in my kitchen last week. I freaked out and sprayed it with Raid. I didn't want it to bite my cat who was wrestling with it. I am so sorry I killed it. It got out through a hole in my kitchen floor.

    inhumane?

It was more than a quick dunk, I held her in the cool water for about 5 minutes, twice. It definitely did the trick! Lets see if I get my brown egg soon.

    inhumane?

Excellent article. So many chicken advice sites recommend this method but it is just too hot here to isolate her in a coop. So I soaked her in a cool bath and she is doing great. Back to her normal self.

    inhumane?

Henrietta, my year old Barred Rock had been broody for more than a month. I just couldn't stand seeing her sit in my cat carrier anymore. So today I brought her out. It's about 95 today.I gave her a cool gentle bath. Now she is out grazing and running around. She was clucking and running and...

    water is too hot!

I live in Arizona. I even get sunburned in the shade! The water comes out of the pipes warm. When I was poor I used to turn off my gas water heater in the summer. Will definitely get a cooler. Some neighbors threw away a couple old big ones recently. Too bad I didn't see use for that!

    water is too hot!

I live in Arizona and need to figure out a way to keep my chickens water cool. I have huge water bowls but the water gets very hot. Even the water out of the hose and pipes is too warm. I was thinking freeze 2 liter bottles and add them to the water troughs. Also looking to invest in a patio...

    The Serpents Have Been Arrested!

Park? No. Just a couple miles away. I am sorry. I just wouldn't kill a snake or any other animal I wasn't going to eat.
