Post here if you DON'T wash clean-looking eggs

I don't wash but I do refrigerate because I have very active roosters I thought you had to refrigerate fertile eggs, no? For the eggs I give away I do tell them they are not washed, and I only give away the clean eggs.

Is there ANY way to keep the chickens out of my flower beds???

I have a garden also, I put a second row of fencing, similiar to hardware cloth, around the bottom of the fence. The little ones can get through in some places I ran of the second fencing, but before long they are too big and can't. Also, because it is SO HOT AND DRY here, I put newspaper...

    Texas 2011 Chickenstock

Good evening! I'm in Bastrop, can anyone attend the Chickenstock in San Marcos? I don't have anything to swap but would like to 'talk chickens'. I have RIR, Production Reds, 1 Buff Orpington and several that were given to me, I have no idea what the are. Recently hatched out 13 chicks, 2...

Lola needs a home (free for pickup only)

Thanks for understanding. I really would like to get a couple or three Silkies but, I wouldn't want the rooster I have, to try and 'jump' them. 'Silly boys' After I thought about Lola being a 'guy', the roo in residence might want to beat him up. I don't know enough about chickens so have...

Most of my chickens have been given to me, for layers. Just had one hatch 13 chix, 2 died, one I am 'tending' as...

This is wonderful! Now I will have to look at my chicken yard to see where I can expand it to include these. You must have very happy chickens.

    Can this baby be saved?

Thank you all for the information. I went back and looked at what others had to say about their chics and am hopeful this little one will make it. I will get the vitamins suggested. One more question, should it be kept seperate from the others? Sure sounds like she misses Momma.

    Can this baby be saved?

Newby to the forum One of my hens hatched out chicks last Saturday, one of them looks like it has a broken neck. ?? I did upload a picture but don't know where I sent it (it is in the uploads somewhere). It eats, drinks, peeps, looks healthy, but Mom started picking at it today so we moved it...
