    About to get some chicks....

    I'm watching mine right now, just came in today got2 easter eggers & 4 Silver Wynotte's bought at local feed suply store. Tractor supply had several breeds all in same bin mixed up, not sure about Southern states.

    I also signed up on facebook to win chicks, (fat chance). Our tractor supply clerks have been there since the store opened, one if a former 4H'er. Have plugged in the heat lamp to make sure it's ok, but need to make some adjustments & get a temp meter.

    You know it's sad when you just walk into the store & the clerk says "they will be here Monday" before you even can say Hi. Hope they still have some by the time I get off work. Did go ahead & get the chick starter food.

    Was just at Tractor Supply store today & the clerk told me the chicks are coming in next month already! I'm not ready yet, what do I need for 6 chicks? Do they sell starter kits or can you make your own(& what do you need)? I have a coop and 6 adult hens that I got last spring but don't know...

    Oatmeal

    Maybe silly questions but do you give them the hot oatmeal in a bowl or pan? Inside or out in the pen? I have 6 hens so how much would you give them at one time?
