I feed mine 16% layer pellets but they also love fresh blueberries. They probably don't lay more eggs because of an occasional blueberry treat but they jump up and down for joy when I give them to them, and a happy chicken will be a better layer!

I am new to raising chickens. I think 2 of my 6 girls are molting. They are Easter-Eggers about 9 months old. My biggest concern is the weather. Do I have to worry about them freezing to death? They are free range in my yard during the day and they have a pen/coop that they go into at night...

Now that I know they tend to lay them there I can make sure to check there every day. I hate to toss the eggs but better safe than sorry! Thanks!

I was wondering that too! I have 6 chickens and got 5 eggs over a period of 4 days about 10 days ago. I've had no eggs in the last 5 days or so. I wondered if it was the heat or if they lay rather sporadically at first.
