I know this last post was a couple years ago, but did ya'll ever have any luck changing the CC&Rs in San Diego Country Estates of Ramona? Do they still prohibit chickens or even dwarf goats for that matter? :D
Hello! I used to live in Chula Vista down in Ocean View Hills. Before I moved though I had like 16+ chickens that I kept in my backyard. No roos, all hens. My neighbors were pretty cool about it. I bribed them with free fresh eggs :-)
Hi Deb,
Thanks for the info. I do think there's either a rat or a squirrel eating the eggs in one of my silkie coop (I did see a large scary rat when I went in to to check on the hens), because every so often I find the eggs with a hole eaten out of the side. I think in my big girl coop it...
Yea, I honestly have no idea. My roos are not doing their job! I brought one of my pups into the coop with me yesterday. Maybe the scent of dog will also help deter them......
I made one of these last year. Do you think the crows would risk sticking their heads into a tube to steal feed? LOL

Thanks for the info Deb! I don't hate the birds, I just hate that they are stealing my chickens food and my breakfast! LOL The husband put up a scare crow but it only lasted about a week before they got wise. He now has a few old cd's hanging around the coop. I just need a few deterrents...
Hey everyone! Any suggestions/recommendations on the best crow deterrents? Those pesky, black birds have taken to stealing all of my chicken's feed as well as stealing all my darn eggs!
Thanks in advance :-)

@perchie.girl I'm doing ok. I'm actually in Dulzura, but darn near close enough. I believe the fired started in or around Barret Junction and the winds blew it south east into potrero and continues to blow it out toward campo. I'm really worried because I have a friend who lives in Potrero...
My dog just killed one of my girls today. She's been around chickens since I acquired her at 3 months of age and never ever showed any interest or aggression toward the chickens. She never never even chased them.
Some background: my dog is a new mom to four puppies born in early January...
Found a stash of eggs hidden on the property today! Those darn girls! I have no idea how long they've been laying in this spot (could only have started from November 2015 when I moved), but I hate the idea of wasting and throwing them all away. What does everyone do with eggs they find?
