Hi my duckling friends!
We are attempting our number 2 hatch of runner ducks in the incubator. First one was a terrible hatch rate, and I am just not sure what went wrong!
Hoping for 50-55% humidity during the first 3 weeks. Debating on hand turning instead of using the auto turner. Should I...
how is your little chickie?
I just wanted to add that I have had 2 chicks now with very badly curled toes..one we hatched in the incubator, the other was hatched by its mother. Booties have worked for both of these babes. their toes are still slightly curled, but nothing like before, and they...
i absolutely love this coop! we are planning on building one on a hay wagon base for this spring!
just wondering how the lattice has held up? trying to decide on the best flooring option. :) thanks so much!!
I absolutely loved this idea, and set it up for our new hatchlings. It wokred beautifully for my baby chickens, but when the baby guineas hatched a week later, I lost 7 of them because they got stuck in between the the heating pad and the towel and couldnt find their way out and suffocated!! :(...
Ok. So again I am no expert on this, but our guineas when it's very cold will go inside and roost with the chickens, they did as keets as well. Now they choose to roost outside in the covered run.
Our friends who we got our 6 guineas from have a whole bunch of chickens and guineas and hey all...
Aw thank you! I am Canadian but we are having turkey anyways! Haha.
So she is an Americauna about 2 years old. She has definitely been molting...like it seems way more than the others. I don't know if she ever lay an egg from the time we got her to be honest.
Her poop smelled really funky back...
Thank you ❤ yes she has always been a bit slower than the other girls.. .I got her 5 months ago and she was a year and a half then. Not that she was sick that long but it wouldn't surprise me if she has been sick for a week or two. shoot. I feel so bad. I am new to all this. I have a dewormer...
Oh my goodness!!
Lol that sounds crazy!
We don't have turkeys...but are you saying the guineas will drag the chickens around? Or try to mate with the chickens?
ah...well they havent breeded yet! uh oh!
they are about 6 months old right now. And, they free range the entire day...we have just over an acre and they always visit our farm neighbours too, so they span a couple acres every day and really dont pay too much attention to the chickens as of yet...
I'm not sure what happened to her.. one other girl was standing over top of her sprawled out body clucking telling me something was wrong. :(
she was acting weird the other day and was crouched down on the ground while the other hens pecked at seeds in the ground...normally she would be all over...
we have 6 guineas that share a coop with our 5 chickens and have had no issues! their feed is inside and we put up a roost on the covered enclosed run and the guineas almost always sleep outside on that roost, and the chickens inside.
they do stick to their own kind tho..the guineas all stay...
I like this idea! I really dont want to run electricity out to the coop if we don't have to.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but would heat tape help keep the water even more warm? or would that just block the manure from heating the bucket....
or would putting heat tape just on the exposed part...
So we recently discovered one of our hens is a rooster!! Haha.
I cracked open an egg after about a week of not cooking eggs and noticed this dot in the center...is this what a fertilized egg looks like???
Ok...so i might sound dumb, but here goes...!
I got these 2 little bantams from a local farmer 2 months ago..i was told they were both hens, and while their combs do look different, I didn't think much of it.....until one of our hens started crowing last week!!! LOL.
So, that leads to my...
