    Sparrows! >:- (

All of this makes perfect sense and thank you for your reply plus the warning about Chinese made junk. I'll have to seal up the holes for the time being. I'm hit hard with medical issues and a lot of trips to Mayo Clinic (4.5 hr from me) so money is focused there at the moment until I can...

    Sparrows! >:- (

I don't have wild bird feeders. And yep, no scratch grains. They're also after the flock block! We have a winter storm coming in so all of my efforts will be put on hold for a bit. Clearly I have a lot of work to do to completely put an end to this. Thanks for your reply.

I only have four hens. That would be an expensive investment for me. I'll look for some DIY instructions. But this does seem to be the best solution.

Thank you for this article. I dust the nesting boxes with DE but will cut back on that. I have read in a past article of yours that marigolds are wonderful for chickens and beneficial in multiple ways. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/marigolds-and-your-chickens.77811/

    One scared hen

That's a good point, plus they are just at 26 weeks old right now. I have one of each: Easter Egger, Olive Egger, Cinnamon Queen and a Black Australorp. So each will do their own thing as nature intended.

    One scared hen

I started with hatchlings. Not my first chicken adventure so know enough to handle things but my health issues complicated getting everyone tame. One hen got separated from the rest and panicked. I had to catch her and get her reunited and since then I'm viewed as the scary ogre. She will...

    Super mega thank you!

    Chicken language

I've been seeing a lot about the "language of chickens". Watched a couple of videos of people who use the 'language' with their flocks. Anybody else doing this? Any good videos to watch/learn from? Seems logical. I tried this a little bit today and they looked at me like I was insane...

Comment by 'VeronicaD' in article 'Feeding Your Chickens Oyster Shells'

My girls are 11 weeks old tomorrow. I put oyster shell in their feed and they pick it out and throw it on the ground. So clearly don't need it right now. This article was great and highly educational. Thank you for this great info!
