The first year or two it is basically building your pens & coops and building your flock. So it's costly. Once you get past that stage yes you can. Selling the eggs pays for the feed. So once your established it's profitable as long as you breed what people want.
My cuckoo are the only ones laying and their eggs are brown with dark specks. My others have not started laying but were hatched from the dark eggs. Hopefully I'll know within the next 3 months with the other 4 colors.
Can anyone tell me the steps I need to take to get NIPI certified in Alabama? Would like to know who to contact, what they do and how often they test. This is all new to me about NIPI and really need the information.
