Thank you so much! I think I have a breeding pair!! I'm so excited. I'm looking forward to getting more eggs and hatching them out.

My two Sulmtaler chicks are a distinctively different color. One is yellow-ish and a little on the small side and one is white-ish and larger. They are about 3 weeks old. They are beautiful. They also seem skiddish. Has this been everyone else experience with them?

I actually want green eggs! I guess I'm kind of a dork. I'm such a novice at all of this. I was just shocked at how quickly my sulmtalers are growing. Only two survived my maiden hatch and one of them is already scraping its head on the top of the brooder. I also had no idea that they would be...

I'm really interested in your Rhodebars. They are on the my list of breeds to add. I saw another post, and a woman has Rhodebars directly from Greenfire and her hens are laying olive green eggs instead of brown! She contacted Greenfire and they assured her the hens were purebred. Peaks my...

Wow, that's awful. Have you asked the neighbor what kind of chickens they were, so you know exactly what you're looking for?

    4 Legbars Hatched...And all 4 are boys!

So sorry! Being new to chickens and hatching, I didn't realize how hard the losses would be. Glad you have 2 pairs though, that's the bright spot.

Thanks! I actually live quite close to the Alabama line. Is that a Standard Poodle in your avatar pic? We have a Standard Silver Poodle.

Wow! I'm so sorry for you. Seriously, what are the odds? I'm setting my first Cream Legbars in the incubator this week. I hope I get some roo's and hens. They are beautiful little babies though. You're lucky to have found someone close by who has some ladies!

Yes, Donna, you are my enabler! Thank you for graciously showing me your flock yesterday. I am going to look at your post on how you built your coops next and try to modify them to a free range situation. The kids adore the Coral Blues. I've got the keets brooder warm but they are staying...

Thanks Kevin. I hope I'm not in over my head... Love your Avatar pic, what breed is that?

Wow!! That is a great hatch! I hatched 6 out of 12 at about the same time. It was my first hatch ever, I know, why didn't I start with something else?...My mistake. We went on vacation when they were 3 days old and only 2 are left (another rookie mistake), but they are healthy and doing well! I...

Interesting...I have been considering starting a Rhode Bar flock and buying from Greenfire Farms. Have you contacted them?

Two years ago, when I started lurking on this sight, pursuing our dream of a independent, profitable farm, I didn't even know there were different breeds of chickens! I am completely addicted now... We bought our 17 acre farm last summer and took the plunge and moved from our cookie cutter...
