    hi everyone

Great hatch!!! Isn't it wonderful? I just give them water and chick starter. My first hatch this spring was bantams and I crushed the chick crumble up as it just looked to big for the little bantam beaks! I haven't given the grit to my chicks until they are out of the brooder and in the coop...

Internal pip with movement in air sac and external pip at wrong end?

I'm not sure about the chick and the pipping, but I'd love to see some photos of your incubator and candling process...

What temp should I have a still-air foam incubator on for Guinea Hen and Banty eggs?

Also, I read that you are adding the bantam eggs to the same incubator as the guineas. Do guineas hatch at 21 days like the chicken eggs? If not, there may be an issue with the humidity for the last three days of lockdown for the bantams as they won't be ready for the lockdown stage and higher...

What temp should I have a still-air foam incubator on for Guinea Hen and Banty eggs?

My bantam silkies started hatching on Day 19 and were all finished by Day 20... Foam incubator and approx 100 degrees.

    hi everyone

Ive just had five bantam silkie and mixed silkies hatch a couple of days ago and now am anxiously waiting on twenty eggs to hopefully hatch tomorrow... Really worried about the temp. as the incubator thermometer is higher than the two thermometers which are right next to the eggs... I really...

What temp should I have a still-air foam incubator on for Guinea Hen and Banty eggs?

Sounds really good to me! I've got four foam incubators, two still air and have trouble keeping a steady temp.... Usually around 100 but I have different thermometers and they all are a little different. Planning on "checking" them as well as the hydrometers as soon as the last three hatches are...

Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

So I started reading this thread yesterday and finally had to skip to the end.... Hate missing so much of this story though, but just couldn't spend another day in front of the computer! Just wanted to check in as a lurker and say how much I have enjoyed the story and everyone involved! Just...

    hi everyone

I have only hatched peahen eggs once and had 4 out of 6 hatch... My one really big mistake was after hatch, as I let the peachicks run around with the chickens and I didn't know to worm them. All of the peachicks started losing weight and all died by 3 months... So terrible. I wish that I had...

    I don't know

Hi! There are different thoughts and opinions on this of course! Some people like to wait until all of the eggs have hatched before taking the chicks out and putting them into the brooder. I usually wait until the majority of the eggs have hatched, so I don't mess with the humidity. I had my...

She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Ha.. not offended at all! I've loved this thread! I think most of the cochins were either not fertile or stopped developing really early. Hard to tell. It will be interesting to see if any get through lockdown... I've also got two incubators with mailed egg-Welsummers and bantam silkies. I'm not...

Ok, so now I'm having trouble getting that french accent out of my mind..... Poor little froggie.. I'll have to start another thread so you can give captions for all my egg photos!!! Good news, 5 out of 7 bantam silkie mix chicks have hatched. It's the 20th day, so I'm giving the last two...

She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

This is the best thread ever!! I've been incubating eggs for a few years with various success. Lots of reading Backyard Chicken posts on every possible idea. Right now I have four incubators running... Not Briseas... One really old foam bought at a poultry auction by a friend and given to me...
