    Thanks so much for everyone's help. I was in a mild panic when I was told this....my ddh was not happy....but I calmed him down and explain to him that I would ask the gang on byc....because they would know exactly what I could do....So the rooster is staying right where he's at!!!! Thanks!

    I know you do not need a rooster to have hens lay eggs...But I was told recently that my hens would not lay eggs while the rooster is around. That I would have to seperate the rooster from the hens. Is this true?? I bought my hens "Good friday" from tsc and I was thinking they would start...

    I will try the sand & Ag lime for sure. I tilled up the earth and that helped alot. How long do you keep the chickens in the coop after you apply the lime in run. I will apply before light rain........right? What is DE (diatomaceous earth)?? I've seen that reference alot on here and I'm unsure...

    I went right out & tilled up the dirt.........and what a big difference right away.........it was amazing and the chickens loved the fresh tilled dirt. The smell was just about all gone when I was done. thanks for the advice!!

    I have a great coop & wire enclosed run. The problem is the odor. The coop is fine and has pine shavings, which seems to be working fine. The run is all dirt now and has a serious odor. WHAT CAN I DO>>>>>>HELP PLEASE. We live very rural and I do not let the 8 hens or 1 rooster free...

    The drive is better for me now. I was driving to Winston Salem 4 days a week. I did that for 3 1/2 yrs. Gas & time on road was killing me. Took pay cut and went to work @WCCH.

    English mastiff..male....rescued DOES not like strangers...has to get to know you and than he'll love you forever.     I have 1 RIR , 2 white rocks, and 3 bufforps .......I think. All hens. Thanks for getting back to me Becky_H. I'm driving to Stuart Va to get a Barred Rock rooster and some few assorted pullets. Do you think barred Rock rooster is a good choice or should I go with something else?
