Hi. I agree the darkening is odd, online it says it's due to lack of oxygen but her com and waddles are still bright red. It is not spreading, and, it may be my imagination but it seems to be receding a tiny bit today. Her breathing is just fine. She is still quiet today, but very alert...
Hi. Definitely not dirt on her face, it's developed since I brought her in, a darkening of the skin. I don't think she's able to go back with the flock, she's still lethargic and swollen, though at least she does not seen to be getting any worse. Still eating very little (usually just a bit when...
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. She is the same age (2.5 yr) but a sapphire gem. Same symptoms, bloated lower rear end, runny yellowish poops (but she is pooping) very quiet/lethargic. None of the girls have any egg issues at all. I have her inside in the "chicken hospital". She's been...
Thank you. I would think so too, it’s been 4 days since the ivermectin (pour over administered with a dropper.) I tried putting one drop on neck, under wings, on either side of vent, but I’m sure they got a bit more than that with all the wiggling, .5 ml at the most. She was totally fine...
Hello lovely chicken people. I have another chicken sick with the same symptoms as the last one who died :-( . Caught it more quickly this time and she is isolated. Never figured out what happened to the last girl but just had a thought. Both illnesses happened a few days after topical...
Thank you. I'm not of sturdy enough constitution to cut her open myself...considering taking her for a necropsy, UC Davis not too far from me offers that.
Thank you. I guess it's the possible respiratory issue I am concerned about with the rest of the girls. Being that she had the large swelling below her vent I wouldn't think it was Mareks or bird flu or anything like that, I'm just concerned for the other girls.
She just died :-( When I went to put the dropper with amoxocillin down her throat, she was drooling and had clear sticky mucus inside her mouth, and I saw 2 little yellow spots on her throat (breathing hole), none of that was there yesterday. When I put the dropper in her throat she seemed to...
I watched the vids and mixed the powder with a little water and got it down her throat. She didn't like it but is so weak she didn't fight much. I'll wait a bit and try the same with some calcium mixed with water, at least I know she'll be getting a little water too.
Thanks. Like I said in the original post, she is very swollen and I'm not feeling an egg so not sure :-(
She lifts her head a tiny bit and opens her eyes when I touch her. The swelling is worse.
Thank you. my biggest fear is her choking on the pill, she's so out of it right now :-( Should I just let her go or try? This sux :-(
The amoxocillin I have is powdered in a gel cap. What would you suggest?
