Just thought I'd update everybody, I have had one more easter egg and one white egg fresh today from my wonderful ideal 236s. I hope the laying continues for these hens of less then 20 weeks of age.

Wow it really has been awhile. Your chicks were still in the brooder when I last checked in on them. They are so big now. I love your little sebright bantam, and it looked like it was a pullet from the pics. That is a great flock of chickens you have and they will lay before you...
I don't know the excact age of it, but its around 20 weeks of age. This egg comes from one of two of my easter eggers and this was not the ones that I figured would lay the first. Anyway, here are the pics, I am so excited, but they chose to lay it on a day that I was sick, lol
As compared...
Hey guys, I have tried to sell a lot of my stock lately but this is a "want to buy" for a change. I'm looking for hens between the age of 15 to 20 weeks of age to add to my layer flock. I do not care if the quality is hatchery or not. I am interested in any breed that is avalible so if you...
Chicks for sale! I have a bunch of chicks for sale. They are avalible for 1.25 each. I have strait run week old chicks avalible in:
Black Australorp
Light Brahma
Rhode Island Red
Several of each, PM me if interested. Pick up only. If this post fails to generate any interest I will post an...
Well good news and bad news. The eggs are moving and you can hear faint cheeping, and the temp is holding solid at 101. The bad news...the humidity is down to 35. What do I do?
vortec
Its day 18. I just candled the eggs and am putting the incubator on lock down. I know the humidity needs to be higher for hatching. Is it 50-60%? I have used the dry hatching method so I have run at 35% or there about for the whole hatching thus far. Need an answer soon. Thanks!

Great! Glad to see the Brahma expanding to more parts of the world. It is an absolutely great breed, and you will love them!
By the way, I have 5 more hatching on Sunday! Just wanted to make sure you knew if I haven't already posted it. Will post pics if all goes well

Actually, I think the opposite. The hatchery stock birds are more geared towards productive egg laying. At least that's what I've gathered from all the brahma info. I've read.
Great! That works out great if that is the case. Seems like I have heard that too now that you mention it...

By keeping records I've managed to figure out that most of my hens lay every other day; a few lay daily with only one day off a week.
When they first started laying all of them layed daily, with one day off a week. I now have 13 hens, my egg count for the last week has been: today -...

Are you giving them away or charging for them?
vortec
At first I tried giving him away for free, but now I'm asking $12 thinking less people are apt to buy a $12 bird and eat it.
Well that probably explains your lack of success. I gave mine away to anybody regardless of their...
For all of those who have brahma hens, how well/consistent do they lay? I believe this question was asked earlier by somebody but it didn't get a response. I am interested as I only have one hen, and would like to know what to expect. Thanks! Thanks for all of the interest in this thread...
