Can anyone tell me what these little babies are, I think the first one (one with the stripe) is a Welsummer? the other one is just red on top with white wings.
Last night I noticed one of my older ladies was laying on the floor of the coop. They free range during the day but it has been heat advisory hot so some of them have beening hanging out in the shade of the coop in the doorway. I didn't think anything of her laying on the floor because she had...
Thanks everyone, I wasn't sure on if there were any differences once an egg is fertilized. Good to know! Thanks!
I actually have 5 chicks 2 buff orpingtons too so if I did get rid of the roos my barred rock wouldn't be lonely. I don't think I will get rid of them unless they become mean and...
We had a tstorm tonight. Lots of wind and rain and I looked out to check on the babies because they are in a small coop that they can go outside or inside on their own. They were all outside still just huddled down in the grass! I couldn't believe it because my grown ladies run inside as soon...

Thanks :) Well now I have no idea what to do with 2 roosters. They are really tame because my kids and I have handled them since they were babies. I am hoping they stay friendly and don't get too protective of the ladies. Is there anyway to guarantee eggs don't get fertilized?
Here is a picture and she looks better than she did at first. I'm not sure if she just got it wet and was scratching it because it was irritating her or if there is something wrong. You can tell from the pic it is kindof inflamed red looking. Any thoughts?
These are my 3 Barred Rock Beauties. I am pretty sure the 2 lite ones are Roosters. They are 9 weeks here and I heard one of them crowing this morning, not sure which one though. Interestingly, the dark one is the most unfriendly one! What do you think??
