Wanted: 100+ Cornish X chicks shipped to Vermont in February

I did! And they do! Starting in mid-February! (And no, they don't put a parka on each little chick, followed by wooley boots!)

Wanted: 100+ Cornish X chicks shipped to Vermont in February

Into Vermont?! In February?! Probably ONLY if they ship them in one of the sales rep's suitcases as he comes up to Vermont to ski. LOL

Wanted: 100+ Cornish X chicks shipped to Vermont in February

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I reached out to Meyers yesterday and await a return call. I also checked the MainePoultry.com site. It hasn't been updated since last fall, which is only a tad concerning. Also, it sounds like they serve as a go-between to an independent hatchery(s) rather...

Wanted: 100+ Cornish X chicks shipped to Vermont in February

Because of temperatures throughout the country, we cannot get McMurray to ship meat cross chicks to Vermont until May. Are their broiler breeders in New England that we can access in a day's drive from northern Vermont? Thanks!

New layers are laying on their roost, not tried and true laying boxes?

Thanks, Jennifer. I'll hit my boss up for some old golf balls. Our boxes have always been about 8" off the ground...I'll raise them up a bit.

New layers are laying on their roost, not tried and true laying boxes?

And dies anyone have a suggestion as to where/what to buy for dummy eggs? Maybe I can teach them using dummy eggs?? What kind of eggs work best...wooden or plastic or ? In...

    New Hampshires

Hi all, I live in VT and we hatched about 50 NH Reds this summer. I now have about 12 roos....way too many, and we're looking to cull many of them and keep the ones with the nicest disposition. However, in order to hatch eggs from this bunch next year, I need to introduce a different line of NH...

New Hampshire Red Roos to trade in or near Vermont

I cannot mate my hens to my existing roos because they all came out of the same hatch.

New Hampshire Red Roos to trade in or near Vermont

I'm located in Essex, Vermont. We've started a flock of NHR laying hens, but need to swap out a few NHR roosters to get ourselves set up to incubate eggs in the spring. I have at least 10 NHR roosters, 5-6 months of age, to sell and/or use to swap. Our stock came from a private sale out in...

Winterized the coop - Have a few questions

Quote: Why would you leave the LIGHTS on during daylight hours ? We just have the lights on in the non-daylight hours...just from 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. generally. Donna

Winterized the coop - Have a few questions

In our Essex, Vermont coop, we do the same, extending their day from perhaps 4:30 p.m. (EST) to approximately 9 p.m. They're out all summer and into the fall, and are used to not going to roost until well after 8:30 p.m. some nights. We were told 16 hours of light, and to supplement whenever...
