One of my chickens was attacked by my dog. Luckily we stopped it right away. She was injured on her back (a small area) I brought her inside, cleaned her up and put her in a pen in the garage. I've been using vetricyn (spell?) spray and Neosporin. It has been 4 days and she hasn't really moved...
I looked it up and I am not sure. I am just so confused! She doesn't have any problems with either of her eyes and I haven't seen any mucus or anything coming out of her nose BUT I did see a little blood on her beak today and as I said my daughter says she saw some blood in her mouth but we...
One of my hens has frequent honking fits and holds her mouth open a lot. She has been doing this for over a month, maybe longer. At first I thought it was respiratory (she is a young bird) but now I am not so sure. She had a little blood on her beak today and my 9 year old daughter said she saw...
She is definitely one of the dominant females of the group.
One of the other hens came over (Ginger) and decided to take her on. They went at oit for a few seconds and I grabbed Ginger and let Grace peck her once and then Ginger took off. I am worried she will get into fights without me. =(
Okay our momma hen (Gracie) just hatched 4 baby chicks, it's been 7 days). I had them in a dog crate in the coop so she could care for them and not worry about leaving her last 2 eggs. Today I decided it was time to let them out. Can I go ahead and just let them be? OR do I have to continue to...
I was planning on doing what you suggested this morning, but when I checked on them they were all fluffy! So apparently they just weren't ready to leave the incubator. They are now in the brooder and everyone is happy. =) Thanks again.
Hi all,
This is my first time incubating chicks and so far everything has been great. I have 12 beautiful fluffy chicks which started hatching on Monday. I have a few more that still need to hatch, and two "day old" chicks in the incubator. The day old chicks actually hatched early this...
Wren, thanks for your post. you were right. I decided not to bandage her up. I just kept an eye on her and made sure none of the other birds were bothering her etc. She is completely fine now. Goes up to the very top of the coop at night to roost again. =) The problem is she is not very graceful...
Glad I read this. I have a huge Wisteria vine that grows up onto a tree play house my husband built. It's really beautiful. Anyway, my chickens have started eating the flowers! They jump up to get them, they look funny. anyway I guess I will have to trim them up. Not looking forward to it...
One of my hens hurt her wing. It isn't dragging on the ground or anything, but she holds it kinda low and she wont try to go all the way to the top of the Roost anymore. I read that you should wrap it if it's broken so that it can reset and heal but haven't found anything on sprains. I don't...
