    Any artists out there?

I do some stuff. I used to sell my work at conventions back when I was sculpting but Covid killed my comic con scene so now I do mostly digital.

    Ducks Fighting

It's also possible one girl is mounting the other possibly? I know one of my girls will mount one of the others in their pond and initially I thought they were fighting and was scared Willow was going to drown Beans. Later I noticed Beans will stretch her head out and 'invite' Willow on...

Urgent: Need to REHOME 2 Welsh/ 2 Silver Appleyards (SoCal) :(

It's a pity I live too far away (KY). I'd second the recommendation of craigslist.

Is this a black Runner or Swedish?

I'd say black swedish, and the lightening of her fluff may be because she's at the age where they shed a little bit of baby fluff (or it just looks paler) as big girl feathers come in.

    Do Ducks Have Night Vision???

Our group WANTS to be put up in the coop when it starts to get dark. They'll line up and wait for us to come let them in. They act much more nervous and their behavior makes me think their night vision is no better than a human's. At the very least, they demonstrate an understanding of...

How big of a pond do I need?

No problem! I was also hopeful that plants would help me with pond cleaning...not replace it, but get it more towards self cleaning than the empty/refill method. Alas, no luck.

Still confused about feeding ducks pellets…

Are you keeping ducks for eggs? If not...I'd second the recommendations here about going with an all drake flock. if duck eggs are a priority then splitting into two flocks would be necessary. Or rehoming all those drakes, ouch. All flock feed should be fine. Oyster shell on the...

Raising different duck breeds together...is it difficult?

I'd definitely be concerned about the male being so large a breed, and agree he shouldn't be kept with girls in such a drastically different weight class, even if the drake to hen ratio were correct...which it isn't. If you want to mix breeds...I'd recommend either an all girl or an all boy...

How big of a pond do I need?

Any aquatic plants that would help the pond 'self clean' would end up being chowed on by the ducks. I tried water hyacinth in mine since it's supposed to be so rapid growing, and I gave it a head start of 8 weeks before my 6 girls were introduced to the pond area. The leaves felt thick...

    Duck pools cleaning ideas

We dug a pond for ours and sump the bottom out every 8 weeks or so. Sometimes I'll sump a bit out before heavy rain is predicted to roll thru so we can get a free fill up. The sump has a long hose so we can change where the yuck water is being directed. Sometimes we'll fill a bucket or two...

Any update? I'm curious if they made it.

    Our new nugget children

A couple pics of them chilling in their brooder. They're all supposed to be girls, from Metzer. However one of my Welshies has a much paler bill than the other two. Should I be concerned about misgendering? Or is she just paler and I'm overthinking it?
