I'd say black swedish, and the lightening of her fluff may be because she's at the age where they shed a little bit of baby fluff (or it just looks paler) as big girl feathers come in. -

How big of a pond do I need?
No problem! I was also hopeful that plants would help me with pond cleaning...not replace it, but get it more towards self cleaning than the empty/refill method. Alas, no luck. -

Raising different duck breeds together...is it difficult?
I'd definitely be concerned about the male being so large a breed, and agree he shouldn't be kept with girls in such a drastically different weight class, even if the drake to hen ratio were correct...which it isn't. If you want to mix breeds...I'd recommend either an all girl or an all boy... -
How big of a pond do I need?

Duck pools cleaning ideas
We dug a pond for ours and sump the bottom out every 8 weeks or so. Sometimes I'll sump a bit out before heavy rain is predicted to roll thru so we can get a free fill up. The sump has a long hose so we can change where the yuck water is being directed. Sometimes we'll fill a bucket or two... -
