NancyinAlaska, that hen in the center of your picture, the reddish brown one with the grey fluffy feathers, she is beautiful, what kind of chicken is she?
2 lab/shepherd mixes. One would kill them if he could catch them. The other one is a chicken guard dog. He keeps himself between the chickens and the other dog. Hardly conclusive for breed type, but interesting.
I have an EE hen that has been laying for about 3 weeks. Twice now she has skipped laying for a day and then layed 2 eggs & last week she skipped 2 days and then layed 3 eggs, one in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. She is the only EE and all the eggs were blue/green, so it had to be her!
Lol DonnaBelle...I'll quit worrying & move this over to the EE braggers thread One of my barred rocks was squatting all day today and barking like a poodle so I will probably have eggs out the wazoo soon. I was going to get 2 more hens for my little hen house, but I think 3 is going to be plenty.
So I have three hens. All are around 6 months old. 2 barred rocks 1 easter egger. The barred rocks aren't laying yet. The EE has been laying for about 2 weeks. Twice she has skipped a day and then layed 2 eggs the next day, but this week she skipped 3 days and today she layed 1 egg in the...
I have 2 big dogs. the old one would like to eat the chickens but is too old to catch them. the young one has decided it is his job to protect the chickens. He keeps himself between the chickens and the old dog. I am amazed.

We were told the same thing by an old timer at the farmers co-op here. dangle by the head, if they struggle they are boys, if they relax they are girls. Hoping for 4 pullets, we ended up with 3 roosters! All easter eggers.

We have 3 roosters we need to rehome. 2 Easter Eggers and a New Hampshire. We are in Nashville near the airport. Let me know if you are interested. I also sent you an email.
Thanks!
UPDATE: these roosters are sold.
These pictures were taken at 12 weeks. They are now 14 weeks old.
After the boys move out I will have room for one or two more pullets of the same age if anyone would be interested in trading. Thanks!

This was a doghouse originally built to fit in the back of a pickup. The cabinet doors were had for $1 each at the local habitat for humanity store (complete with hardware) and the paint was from the oops bin at the hardware store. We built the roof and it is removable for...
