Ahh! Well that would make sense then. She lays a lot of really nice, big, eggs, around 4 or 5 times a week. Her eggs have been big right from the start too, which I was always impressed with! So perhaps that's why we aren't getting the chocolate eggs. I appreciate your insight!

Hello my chicken friends!! I'm so sporadic with my posting here that I'm still a stranger lol but I thought if anyone would know you guys might. This past spring I bought 3 french standard black copper maran chicks, straight run, supposedly from the Bev Davis line. We drove 90 minutes to the...

    Can Chickens See Colors???

This made me laugh. All of my chickens love toes too - especially when painted red or any variation and my goodness it HURTS when they peck at them lol I've since stopped wearing my flip flops when I go out to them, otherwise I become a dancing dervish as I try and avoid their pecks.

Oh.My.Goodness. I am laughing so hard over that one feather!!! Poor girl! And wow they ARE beautiful!!! Gosh I need a lot more space, sooo many birds I want. I think I'm going to put those on my wish list too, they are so "lady like" looking. And that IS cool that she got a blue ribbon for...

Lisa! I feel like such a copy cat after reading your signature LOL I remember admiring your page awhile back with your pretty coop & big backyard. Then just now I read your siggy again & you're wanting a FBCM and a blue egg layer which is exactly what I'm going after right now lol You have a...

I'm SO glad they approved it!! Yay!! Gotta love obnoxious neighbors. My hens are all loud when laying, but you know what I think it's silly that that would even be an issue (thankfully it's not for us) considering dogs bark day & night! Same with roosters - I wish more cities would allow them...

Oh my goodness - those green & blue eggs are beautiful!!!! I keep trying to sit down & read through the thread but my littles are keeping me busy tonight! What are the breeds? And can I ask a stupid question? If they hatch from a blue or green egg, will they lay that color of egg? I would love a...

Hi you guys! I'm on the look out for some Black Copper Maran's and a blue egg layer like an Americana - do any of you know of somewhere local that might be selling these breeds, or an online (reputable) site that isn't out of stock? I think if I didn't want these two particular breeds they'd...

Hi you guys! I'm wondering if anyone here knows the laws for having chickens in the city of Holladay? We might be moving there and I can't seem to find if it's legal or not.

Very fun! I think building the coop(s) is as much fun as getting new chicks/chickens Cynthia - I'm soo sorry your recent hatch didn't go as well :( Those chicks are sweet, I hope they grow to be healthy! :)

Thanks Lisa! I hope so too! It's so sad hearing them cough. It was fun looking at all the pictures on your page. That coop of yours is ADORABLE!!! We have a 'triangle' tractor right now and I absolutely hate it - can't wait for the weather to improve so we can build a better coop

Hello fellow Utahn's! Not been here in forever! I came to research how others treated their birds when they came down with a "cold" am thinking of using Oxine ah, it sounds like pretty good stuff by everything I've read. Hoping to get them all better so that we can get some chicks & add to our...

Hi you guys! It's been a good few months since I've stopped in. Wish I had more time to keep up around here So we have two roosters that I'm looking to find homes for. One is a mottled cochin bantam named Mr. Muffin and the other is a light brahma named Alaska. The bantam was a chick we bought...

Quote: Quote: Neosporin (or any generic triple antibiotic ointment) WITHOUT pain relief ingredients seems to be okay for treating eye infections. The label says not to use it on people's eyes, but my mom used it a lot on us kids while we were growing up after a doctor told her to. I know...
