Thanks Brian! I ordered a dozen, got 2 extra, all packed well and none cracked or broken, all beautiful dark and some with speckles too. Thank you very much!!
Does anyone know where a teacher could get fertile hatching eggs? A kindergarten teacher at my son's school asked me yesterday and I have no idea where to get them locally as I always get them shipped from BYC members. Any ideas would be appreciated, we are in the Los Angeles area.
My hatching is finally done! I had 10 go into lockdown, and 7 hatched, all Olive Eggers. It was stressful, they all hatched on day 23! It was my first time in a hovabator, and it got unplugged 2x by the kids playing around it, so I think that's why they were late. My 7 year old said they...
I candled over the weekend and 10 of 14 shipped eggs were developing! I have them upright in egg cartons and am tilting the incubator. Then yesterday, I was putting the kids to bed (the incubator is in their room because it has the most stable temp), and I realized that I didn't hear the fan...
I set 14 on Friday!
Can I hatch this week in the same incubator? It would mean not turning the hatch along eggs for a couple days (they were shipped and are in cartons in the bator). I don't think the humidity spike would hurt, as long as I compensate later with drier air?
Hi, I love reading this thread! Just wanted to add that I'm on a tablet too; sometimes going to the bottom of the page and changing from "Mobile" to "Desktop" solves some problems (although then the words are teeny tiny)
Thanks HeartMoss Farm, chickenoverlord, and Ghostrider!
Well, I am sad as those were the only F2 olive eggers to hatch with pea combs. I was hoping to not hatch again (actually, I love hatching, it's the brooder that I could do without!)
I have 2 olive eggers that are a mix of wheaten ameraucana x BCM x welsummer. They are 6 weeks old. They have a hatch mate who has a distinct 3 row peacomb that turned red at 3 weeks. These two I'm not sure of as their combs only darkened this past week. Thanks for any help!
