The baby shell had cracks at day 18 but she kept growing so I just left it alone. Could that be why she hatched early? Here is a pic of the baby's bill. -

Also how long can the baby go before I have to feed her? Will mommy take her out and come back and siton the rest of the eggs till they hatch? -

I have a Muscovy duck sitting on 6 eggs. 1 duckling hatched at day 32. The rest are active in the shell but no pips. The problem is I also have Perkins. How do I know if the duck in is a muscoy or Perkin? I only have male Muscovy.. so if a male mates with a Perkin female will it take 28 days... -

I candeled the eggs last night. No veins so took them All out today.. craked one open no forming at all Replace the 15 duck with 10 fertilized chicken eggs. -

Duck egg or chicken egg??
Yea its probably a duck egg they are kinda greasy feeling and the membrane is thicker. Also the yolk is bigger and not as much white -
Today's temperature = # of eggs.
-10 with the wind chill. Lower southwest mi. 5 bantam eggs 3 from mixed chickens and 2 muscovy with 2 hours extra light. So 10 total. I also feed them mash and dog food for the winter though- wazzy

I have hay in my coop this year but will be switching to sand as soon as the snow melts due to the ducks. I didn't have ducks last winter. My coop is insulated and i have a heat light that warms it up for a hour in the evening and early morn for a hour each time. My windows and coop and... -

My coop is insulated. I dont keep water it it because the ducks just spill it all over and get the hay soaking wet. I have a heat light that kicks on for 2 hours from 6-7 pm and then back on at 4-5 am. I am doing a deep bed method this year. But i didnt have ducks last winter so it seems... -

My 2 year old Muscovy seems very intent on hatching her babies. We have been having 20 degree days and Negative night. Will the eggs freeze while she waiting to lay the next one? Please help
