    Frizzles

Awesome! When do they reach their full size? They are 3.5 - 4 months now, that's what the guy said. They are fully feathered, but that doesn't mean much as you know. It's just starting to get chilly outside 40 degrees or so. Should I have them inside for the winter months?

    Frizzles

I'll have to look closer in the AM, but they very well may be a sizzle by your definition

    Cockerel acting weird

Yesterday, I went into the coop to find this guy sitting in a nest box - hiding. I picked him up and typically there would have been more of a response. When I let him go outside he was very lethargic looking - carried wings low, walked mouth open, and moved slowly. I initially thought maybe a...

    New RIR Rooster ...

Well, in my experience, now having 10 Roosters I am fairly certain that the roosters temperament has a lot to do with your treatment, handling, and respect of his position. If you do all correctly he should view you as top rooster and never attack. When mine are roosting at night I go in and...

    Overgrown Spur ... Advice?

Okay, so it broke off but now it's bleeding. How do I stop or how log until it stops on its own?

    Overgrown Spur ... Advice?

Last night, I went to an auction and besides being heart breaking seeing the lack of compassion or car with regards to the animals their condition was equal. I ended up with a two hens with impacted crop (fixable with TLC), but also have a Rooster with an severely overgrown spur. What's the...

Is there a deadline to when a hen should go broody?

Awesome! And then after they hatch is there a rule of thumb when you can return momma and babies to the flock?

Is there a deadline to when a hen should go broody?

So if we have her hatch a clutch, 21 days from yesterday puts the hatch date for August 29th will the young be okay as the weather will be cooler?

Is there a deadline to when a hen should go broody?

I have a Silkie that I believe just went broody today. I am curious as to if there is a "season" so to speak for broodiness and if so is this late in the season for a New England hen? The weather will start getting colder and I'm just hoping hatchlings would be okay.
