I had some maize type plants spring up over the last two months and now they've matured I've identified as Sorghum. I can only imagine this has come from the chicken feed fertilised with a bit of poop and loving the conditions.
I was hoping I would get ears of corn but alas.
What should I do...
They seem to love it.
Not attached to wire.
Three handcrafted wooden brackets attached to the brick wall at back then plank attached. Rounded corners.
Final decision is if I put rubber on the roost as I had before. Meant to help with their feet.
30+!!!! Yes, they would definitely scrunch ha ha. Thanks for advice. I will implement...and maybe the tyre...cause as you said, it might look cool
OK interesting. You've got two roosts, how many chooks have you got. I went with the philosophy that they would all want to be together but maybe they would prefer a number of options. Thanks for input.
That's fair comment. I realise I'm hindsight that the break in the ladder makes it a bit difficult for manoeuvring... But it's what I had to hand and seemed to work for the original 8. Maybe now there's 2 newbies and they are all a bit older there's a bit more faffing and they are less steady on...
Suggesting hanging tyre horizontally in coop.
Trouble with the RTR is that the two newbies always ends up on the table or going into nesting boxes which mean I have to go out late and pop them on the bars again. With the tyre everyone seemed to go on without issue.
Coop is 3m x 2m currently...
Hi, we recently introduced two new chickens to our flock of 6. Although there isn't any fighting (the odd assertion still occurs) when it comes to bed time the two newbies still seem reluctant (or are being bullied off) the roosting perch.
One night I forgot to open the hatch to the coop and...
Well having continued antibiotics for a while her breathing improved but then she started to get some paralysis in her legs and neck and finally after a day and night of not getting out of nesting box she died. I probably should have helped her end sooner but not sure I'm trained to do it and...
Thanks.
We were prescribed clavaseptin.
We could separate the chook because I guess it is contagious but I'd be worried that the additional stress would take her over the edge.
Hi.
We have a number of rescue chicken.
We introduced 2 more recently (divided in run by fence).
Since then one of our chickens has become poorly.
First her breathing became laboured, then some sneezing (or chicken equivalent).
Having gone to the vets they prescribed penicillin and this...
